KeepofftheDunes.com was created to share information about beaches worldwide. As beach enthusiasts, we found there was not a comprehensive beach resource on the web. Finding the best local beaches while on vacation was difficult and time consuming. With this in mind we created KeepofftheDunes.com in an effort to create a community of people who love to go to the beach!

Why should people 'Keep off the Dunes'???
The sand dunes provide a buffer between the ocean and land. They protect the coast from both flooding and erosion. Dune grass has deep intertwined roots that help create a barrier that can prevent eroding during severe storms. Walking or playing on the dunes can cause damage to the vegetation which is crucial to the composure of the dunes.

We created this online community with the intention that it would grow from user input. Our team has spent countless hours collecting information and ensuring that it is as accurate as possible. Our goal is to create the world's largest database of geo-located beaches. Geo-located simply means that each and every beach on our site has a location associated with it allowing us to provide location-based features such as maps and driving directions.
